LO2: Radio Production paperwork

             Radio Production Paperwork

Lots of preproduction documents are needed to even begin the production process for radio. Lots of things need to be considered and planned out. Therefore, we use preproduction documents such as scripts, production schedules/GANTT charts, risk assessment, mindmaps and storyboards.

Scripts are created so the presenters know what they are going to say on the radio. This makes sure everything that needs to be said is said.

Scripts contain:
Characters
Dialogue
Scenes: Interior or exterior (INT, EXT)
Stage directions

Production schedules and GANTT charts are preproduction documents that let you plan out a project including the timings and deadlines of the project and each section. They include: tasks, activities, deadlines, timeline, contingency, milestones and duration. The only difference between production schedules and GANTT charts are they way they present the information.
Zest Radio could use a production schedule or GANTT chart to: Schedule the programming of the radio shows and when they are recording the audio too.

Risk assessments- Used to identify risks or hazards in a workplace or while working on a project. Risk assessments include: What the risk is, how likely the risk is and how they can reduce or remove the risk/hazard. Radio stations could use risk assessments for the radio station. The risks could be equipment falling for example.

mindmaps are used to come up with ideas and present them. They contain a main node (the centre of the entire mindmap, the main subject) sub nodes (subjects linked to the main idea) and branches (connect ideas). Zest radio could use mindmaps to: Gather ideas on what the presenters should talk about, any research for news....

Storyboards are used in Film and TV. They are show a sequence of moving images. They show the production team how to film the scenes and the editing team how it should be edited together. Storyboards contain:
Shot- Full shot, medium shot, close up, extreme close up, over the shoulder, point of view
Angle- Dutch angle, high angle, low angle
Movement- Pan and tilt, truck and dolly
Scene
Length
Environment
Noise
Shadow and light
